The Founder

About thebespoketraveler.

I don’t remember the early destinations as an infant, but I have the photographs to prove that I traveled the Caribbean before I could walk. My mother is from Trinidad. My father worked for Eastern Airlines. I grew up going to different islands across the region, and as I got older I came to know the difference between a Tobago beach and a Barbados sunset, between Turks and Caicos and Aruba. That foundation is the reason this brand reads the way it reads. I am not researching destinations. I am recalling them.

The majority of my life has been sports. Over almost two decades I trained professional athletes in the NFL, Major League Baseball, and collegiate student-athletes — through the year-round work of strength, conditioning, recovery, speed, agility, and sleep that nobody sees in the highlight reel. That work decides whether the body holds up. I built protocols and programs around what athletes actually need. Not what they say they need. What they need.

As I started raising a family of my own, and as my children began getting into sports themselves, I moved into real estate. Buys, flips, and mainly kitchen renovations — many of them for the same athletes I had trained, because the relationship was already there. Eventually the buy-and-flip got boring. I wanted to hold properties. The same athletes I trained kept asking where they should travel, where they could recover, where they could disappear. So I started building my own portfolio domestically — Florida, Georgia, South Carolina — providing vacation stays. Then I went international, specifically targeting the Caribbean because I knew it so well.

The properties were designed for the athlete. Enough space for in-laws, other family, chefs, trainers. Cold plunges. Recovery rooms. Blackout sleep environments. The kind of quiet a body can actually use after a hard season. Places where an athlete could disappear, get mental refreshment, recover from surgery, or just decompress before the next cycle started.

From those properties came the itineraries. I started curating custom routes built specifically around the athletes I trained — post-surgery recovery, off-season reset, family decompression, longevity protocol. I hand-selected every detail and made every renovation based on what an athlete actually needed from a property, because I had been the one needing it myself.

thebespoketraveler is the avatar of how I travel myself — as a husband and father, as a single man, as part of a guys’ trip, in the context of a family. It is built for people who live the way I live. Today the brand has expanded out of the Caribbean and into Southeast Asia and Oceania, where we are opening windows and doors with hospitality brands, DMCs, adventure tour operators, and travel agencies across the region.

And the brand is no longer just recovery and wellness. It is thrill-seeking, adventure, cultural-immersion expeditions, and athlete-centered programs — designed to challenge the mind and the body, and to recover both. Designed for the family, the solo trip, or the guys’ trip. Designed specifically for what you need at the time you need it. That is what travel is about. Finding the thing you need on this planet, and having it delivered that way. You can skydive over the Pyramids of Giza, cage-dive with great whites off South Australia, ski powder in Hokkaido — whatever you are feeling, whatever you need, customized exactly the way you need it: from the food to the temperature of the AC in the car, to how firm your pillows are, to how you want to be greeted at the door.

What we do.

1. The editorial publication.

This is what you are reading right now. Ultra-luxury travel coverage for people who do not have time to read everything else. Long-form features on the destinations, activities, and athlete-tier programs we route. Honest. Specific. Written from the ground, not from the spreadsheet.

2. The Sanctum.

Our private members’ circle. The trips you will not find in the public archive — routed quietly, off the record, to the people who belong on them. Application only.

3. Custom routing.

The service that takes a client’s actual calendar — their off-season, recovery cycle, family commitments — and builds the trip around the cycle, not around what is trending. Custom from the first conversation. Specific to the person, not to the season.

We sell fit, not volume. Every client we speak to gets two questions before any trip: what do you want to feel, and what do you want to come back with? The trip is built from there.

How we work.

The clients who work with us are former professional athletes, current pros, entrepreneurs, family-office principals — the people who love the challenge. They want to challenge the body. They want to challenge the mind. That can be a scuba certification followed by cave diving in Mexico. It can be a cultural-immersion expedition along the Great Wall of China. It can be a heliski week in Hokkaido followed by a quiet ten days at a wellness estate in Bali. It can be a paragliding license at Đồi Bù and a recovery week in the Caribbean. We work with people who want the next thing they have not done, and we route the trip around what their body and mind actually need at that point in the year.

The work begins long before a trip is booked. We listen to what you are actually carrying. That conversation shapes the routing. From there, we draw on decades of relationships across hospitality, performance medicine, private aviation, ground operators, and the small set of properties that actually deliver what they promise. Once a trip is booked, every detail is held end-to-end. You arrive and the trip is already running.

What makes us different.

We know the client. Not in the generic sense. In the specific sense. We have lived in the rooms our clients will sleep in. We have trained the bodies our clients are trying to take care of. We have built the relationships the trip depends on, in countries where most travel brands are still introducing themselves. When you ask us where to go for a mental reset, we are not going to tell you to go to Bali because that is what every other travel brand tells everyone. We are going to tell you somewhere specific, somewhere off the grid, somewhere that fits how you actually decompress.

We answer the questions you have not thought to ask yet. The pillow firmness. The temperature of the car at pickup. The dietary protocol for the week. The bodywork therapist who knows your previous injuries. The chef who has your bloodwork. The route between the airport and the property that avoids the morning traffic. Those details are the trip. We carry them so you don’t have to.

And we are not starstruck. The relationships we build are working relationships, not transactional ones. Athletes, performers, and family principals come to us because they know we treat them as people first — people who happen to be in the middle of careers most other travel brands cannot meaningfully understand. We can. That is what makes the trip work.
