Vietnam

Karst mountains, a coastline that runs for a thousand miles, and the best riding road in Asia. One of the great sports-travel playgrounds on earth.
Vietnam is history, food, and motion. Thousand-year-old citadels and street-food capitals sit beside a coast made for the water and a spine of mountains made for the bike. For the traveler who moves, few countries give you more.

The Country Guide

What it is known for

Deep culture and history, from the imperial city of Huế to the temples of Hanoi. Some of the best food in the world. And a landscape that quietly became one of Asia’s great arenas for sport: the Hà Giang Loop, the caves of Sơn Đoòng, the karst water of Hạ Long Bay, and a coast built for the swim, the ride, and the run.

The sporting calendar

Vietnam now hosts real events. Ironman 70.3 in Đà Nẵng each May, marathons through Huế and around Hạ Long Bay, a fast-growing HYROX and endurance scene in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, plus road-cycling sportives over the Hải Vân Pass. We build trips around the start line.

Sporting activities for travelers

Ride the Hà Giang Loop or the Hải Vân Pass. Expedition into Sơn Đoòng, the largest cave on earth, or across Hạ Long Bay by private yacht. Canyoneer in the highlands, kayak the karst lagoons, and dive the reefs off Nha Trang and Phú Quốc.

Wellness & recovery

The other half of performance. Riverside spas and recovery clinics in Hội An and Đà Nẵng, cryo and physio in the cities, and quiet island resorts on Phú Quốc built for the days after the effort.

When to go

The North: September to November and March to April, cool and clear. The Center: February to May, dry and warm. The South: November to April. We plan around the region your trip centers on.

Good to know

Most visitors get a simple e-visa. Domestic flights connect the three regions in under two hours. Carry some cash for the small places, and let the pace breathe: the best of Vietnam is rarely on the schedule.
